Pushcart Prize
You are accessing this site for transporting short fiction and it is my general desire to give you some.
With excitement, I recommend the annual Pushcart Prize published by the Pushcart Prize Fellowships.
The Pushcart Prize is awarded to stories that have sifted through the most intense, short-fiction editorial sieve that exists.
Pictured here is the cover of the 45th edition - 2021. It’s about 600 pages. You can wait until early 2023 to get Pushcart Prize XLVII or you can buy a used, past issue on-line for less than $10 – including shipping.
You will shortly be taking the shortest cut there is to the best short fiction.
You may wonder if you will like any of what Pushcart deems good fiction.
Pushcart is like a big box of Christmas candy; you know how that goes.
For a lot of nit-nat reasons, I love practically no modern fiction, but in my 45th edition, in the first 10% of the volume, I have already read two stories that are definite oases (my opinion, mind you) in the modern fiction Sahara.
